Asiasat is owned by Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa Ltd, Beijing's China
International Trust and Investment Corp (CITIC) and SES. In Jan 1999,
SES
bought 34.13% of Asiasat, buying the full stake of Cable and Wireless (29%) and
the rest from Hutchison Whampoa (cost of the transaction: $331 million). In MAr
2007, SES exchanged its shares into
SIH,
owned by GE.
In 2020 the company is mainly used by CITIC (Chinese state owned) and private
equity Carlyle Group.
