In early 2000 Orbcomm announced that Teleglobe Inc became the majority owner
and sole general partner of Orbcomm. Other shareholders are
Orbital Sciences Corp.
and TRI Inc. of Malaysia. In Sep 2000, this firm filled for bankrupcy but
expects to find the necessary money. In Mar 2001 Advanced Communications
Technologies Inc made the highest bid at $14.25 million to acquire the
assets.
In Feb 2004, several new investors entered Orbcomm including
SES Global
for 9% and OHB Technology.
In Oct 2006, the company launched an IPO to get fresh money for a new
generation of satellites.
