Program: Anik
In the Inuit dialect, Anik means "little brother". The name was choosen
from a national contest to name the program in 1969.
Canadian system owned by
Telesat Canada.
Canada was the first country to start a domestic telecommunication system
because of it's large territory and distributions of its inhabitants.
In 1998 the DBS satellite had its name selected from a contest:
Nimiq 1.
Telesat is planning a LEO constellation for internet traffic comprised of 117
Ka-band satellites.
A first group of 12 satellites in each of 6 planes at 1000 km x 99.5°
polar orbit
A second group of 45 satellites in 1248 km x 37.4° over 5 planes
