Program: GEO Kompsat 2
Korean GEO remote sensing program led by KARI. 2 satellites planned at
128.2°E.
The 2A satellite will carry meteorological and space weather monitoring
payloads, and 2B will carry environmental and ocean monitoring payloads.
Airbus Defence and Space will deliver the complete propulsion subsystem and the
structure of the medium-sized/small geostationary satellite platforms, which
have a launch mass of three to four metric tons.
The GK2B satellite is designed to monitor oceans and the Earth's environment,
also using two dedicated instruments: GOCI-II (Geostationary Ocean Colour
Imager-II) and GEMS (Environmental Monitoring Spectrometer).
