Program: Leasat

LEAsed SATellite

American military telecommunication satellite program launched in 1978 (under contract from the DoD). The satellites (Syncom 4 series) are operated by US Navy. The Leasat system is connected to the Navel Telecommunications Command Operational Center (NTCOC) in Washington, DC

5 satellites were ordered, 1 initially intended as ground spare together with an operational center, 4 fixed ground stations and 2 mobile ones.

Control stations in Guam, Hawaii, Stockton CA, and Norfolk VA.
