Military communications satellites for the NATO

In May 2004, NATO selected a consortium of European companies (France, Italy and UK) to supply the SHF and UHF services for 15 years at a cost of EUR 457 million. The satellites relyed upon to provide the services will be the Skynet series, Syracuse 3A and Syracuse 3B and the Sicral 1A (not hardened) and the Sicral 1B (will be hardened).

The EHF needs will be awarded in 2005 (used for submarine communications, contract worth EUR 191 million). The Advanced EHF program is the most probable winner.
