Program: NIMS


Navy Ionospheric Monitoring System

This satellite program used to be called NNSS (Navy Navigational Satellite System). It was used to determine accurate position information for US Navy submarines to optimize accuracy of missile deployment. As of Jan. 1, 1997 the system is now known as NIMS.

The remaining operational satellites transmit on 149.985 & 399.97 MHz. Their CATNR are: 18361, 18362, 19070, 19071, 19419, 19420.
