Program: SatcomBw

German miltary telecommunication system (Federal Office for Information Management and Information Technology of the Bundeswehr (IT-AmtBw)). The system has two GEO satellites.

To provide voice and fax as well as advanced data, video and multimedia applications. To cover a zone from the Americas to the Far East.

Went in 2009. Services provided by Milsat Services GmbH, owned at 74.9% by EADS Space services and 25.1% by ND Satcom, a SES Global company.

The space segment prime contractor is EADS Astrium although the satellites are provided from Alcatel!

The stage 1 of the program was implemented using commercially-available ressources.
