Earth Radiation Budget Satellite, also called SAGE 2
Part of a NASA Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (
ERBE) to measure
radiation emitted by the Earth and the effect of a solar radiation incident on
the Earth.
In Jul 2002, plans are to lower its orbit to organise a controlled reentry.

A 180 degree yaw maneuver is performed approximately every 5 weeks to keep sun
on the solar arrays.
Payload: 2 radiometers and
SAGE 2 (
Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas
Experiment) to monitor vertical distribution of aerosols, ozone and carbone
dioxide in the stratosphere.
Telemetry and data via
TDRS
(S-band).
