Joint venture with a South African investor group led by Convergence Partners. Payload optimised to deliver wireless backhaul, broadband and television programming to the African continent. New Dawn Satellite Co. Ltd. is registered in Port Louis, Mauritius

Total cost US$250 million. The equity (15% of the financing) is to be provided by Intelsat (74.9 percent) and the Convergence Partners-led group (25.1 percent).

The C-band (west) antenna remained stuck and failed to deploy. Therefore only Ku-band capacity is operational. Insurance claim should be filled.
