Started service in February 2009.
Provides 0.41 m resolution in panchromatic mode, and 1.65 meter resolution in
multispectral mode. Due to US regulations, the maximum resolution available to
commercial customers is 0.5 m.
Insured for $270 million for launch and first year of operation.
Some software had to be developed to fix attitude control problems experienced
during in-orbit testing. The satellite has also a defect on a picture profile
which could affect its usability. Later the defect was said to be minor.
In Dec 2009, issues with the download antenna was discovered. That may affect
customers with direct-downlink requirements.
