This satellite will be operated through the National Earth Observation Program (Programa Nacional de Observacion de la Tierra; PNOT). Owned by Hisdesat.

The mission is devoted to providing high resolution multispectral land optical images to different Spanish civil, institutional and government users, and potentially to other European users in the framework of GMES and GEOSS. Satellite initial cost: EUR 160 million.

Should provide panchromatic imagery of 2.5 m (or 1m?) and multispectral imagery of 10 m resolution. 100 pictures per day.

Carries 2 secondary payloads: the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and the Heavy Precipitation experiment (ROHP).

Originally to be launched in 2012, then in 2014 by Dnepr through Kosmotras. Moved to Falcon 9 in 2017.
