First satellite built by a high school.

Developed, built and tested by students from the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. The program started in December 2006 and involved 50 students.

Volunteers from Orbital helped the students and Orbital provided technical assistance.

The payload is a phonetic voice synthesiser that converts strings of text to voice. Once converted, the voice is transmitted back to Earth.
