When Eutelsat was created it gathered 17 countries. Before privatization, 48
countries were members of Eutelsat: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria,
Azerbaidjan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Finland,
France,
Georgia, Greece,
Germany,
Hungary, Ireland, Iceland,
Italy,
Liechtenstein, Lithuania,
Luxemburg,
Malta, Moldavia, Monte-Carlo,
Netherlands,
Norway,
Poland,
Portugal,
Rumania,
Russia,

At privatization in July 2001, the largest shareholders of Eutelsat are France
Telecom (23.1%), Telecom Italia (20.5%), British Telecom (17.5%) and Deutsch
Telekom (10.9%).
In Dec 2002, Deutsche Telekom sold its 10.87% stake to Italian publishing group
De Agostini for EUR 210 million.
In Feb 2003, France Telecom sold its 23.14% stake to a holding company created
with investment company Eurazeo in which FT will own 20%. The transaction
values the 23.14% stake at EUR 447 million.
Later in 2004, British Telecom sold its 15.8% stake to Goldman Sachs Capital
Partners for EUR 525 million.
By the end of 2004, the ownership of Eutelsat is: Eurazeo 36.3%, Nebozzo 22%,
Goldman Sachs 15.8% and other shareholders have the remaining 26%.
In 2022 a merger with
Oneweb aka WorldVu
was announced and is pending regulatory permission.
