Loral filled for chapter 11 protection in Jul 2003 and sold 6 satellites to
Intelsat (Telstar 5, 6, 7, 8 & 13) for $961.1 million. The right to use
77°W (Telstar 4) was also transferred to Intelsat.
In Dec 2006, the company is announcing it will merge
Loral Skynet
and the previous Telesat (owned by BCE) into a new Telesat company, a joint
venture between PSP investments and Loral.
