Fleet of LEO telecommunication satellites from Luxspace, part of the OHB group, to relay AIS signals.

Orbcomm is the exclusive licensee for the AIS data collected: the satellites are to replace the failed Orbcomm Quick Launch series.

AIS data is used for ship tracking and other maritime navigational and safety efforts.
