Triana


Named after Rodrigo de Triana, the lookout who first saw the New World from Columbus' ship; was renamed DSCVR (Deep Space Climate Observatory)

US satellite project. This spacecraft would be located at the L1 point to broadcast pictures of the Earth viewed from space. It would have science goals to especially regarding solar radiations. This initial project is supported by Al Gore.

In Jan 2003 the satellite was renamed DSCVR (Deep Space Climate Observatory). The satellite is said to be built but waiting for a launch opportunity.

In Sep 2006, the satellite is built but in storage, waiting for launch.

Status: canceled
